Chapter History

The NW Harris County alumnae Chapter of Delta Delta Delta was founded in September, 1976. Clara Lewis and Paula Bowman, both new to the north side of Houston, had previously been active in alumnae chapters elsewhere. They contacted the Executive Office to inquire into the possibilities of an alumnae chapter in their area.

They met in September, along with Dawn McNeil, Nancy Eudy, and Gaye Couch to plan activities and to call area Tri Deltas. More than 25 Tri Deltas attended the first meeting in October, 1976.

During that first year, Gaye Couch's Mother Pearl, was introduced and quickly became a hit. There were many well attended meetings and activities, as well as, a very successful style show fundraiser. The alumnae chapter blossomed quickly in the dynamic and inspired group that we enjoy today.
